Summary:
This year, we commemorate the fifth anniversary of the disaster in Japanese Fukushima I nuclear power plant (the previous article) and also the thirtieth anniversary of the Chernobyl accident in Ukraine (this article). These have been the worst two nuclear power plant accidents and also the only ones to directly impact the environment. We will examine the present situation in both affected areas which are currently undergoing the recovery process heading to decommission of the reactors and to reconstruction and revitalization of the environment.
