Article
Summary:
The article describes discovery of the planet Neptune. First, the observations that could incidentally discover the planet visually are mentioned, especially Galileo Galilei’s observation from 1612–1613. Then, theoretical work by J. C. Adams and U. J. J. Le Verrier is mentioned. This work made it possible to determine the parameters of its trajectory, thus enabling J. G. Galle to discover the planet by observation.
